RE: Bogus Email Messages... Smart Virus??

Dear Sambasiva Rao garu:
This, I believe, is called email spoofing. It is more than a nuisance.

Someone seems to have used my email address like that recently - only a
couple of times.

About a year ago, someone sent a large number of emails using my email
address. Comcast, my service provider, said that I am sending spam and
suspended my service for 48 hours. I called Comcast and protested but did
not help till the 48 hours elapsed.

It is something to watch out for.

Dear Friends,

Some of us are getting messages from seemingly known email addresses.
A couple of our friends even got such messages from mine
(srchandu@gmail.com)
which I never sent. We are taking this up with Google/Yahoo/Hotmail.

Meanwhile, If you do get a message (especially a nasty one) and it is
from one of your known addresses, please talk to the address owner. Do
not assume that the sender is really the sender! Hope this will reduce
some heartaches!

Regards,
Chandu
