Not to get personal...

Dear Friends,

Two of our members brought to my attention that they received
personalized messages directly to their email addresses. We do not know
if such messages came from our members or outsiders (Non members can
also read all our postings on the web). In any case, we do need to
realize that there are mean spirited individuals out there, ignore such
nuts, and move on.

Such mischievous behavior does not speak well of any such writers.
Sending such mails will discredit the spirit and strength of any group.
Unfortunately, as moderators, we can't stop such emails. We can
moderate what goes through the Group. More over this can also indicate
criminal intent on the part of the senders of such messages.

Let us review why we are part of this Forum, and what are we guided by:

1. Our participation is purely voluntary. We want to learn about, and
share the information on social issues affecting our home state

2. Because, this is a discussion forum, we anticipate further
discussion either supporting or opposing our views

3. We are not interested in individuals, per se, but their philosophies

4. To identify and promote voluntary work, and individuals with such
spirit

5. We have no policing capability. Each member is responsible for his
own acts, writings and not the group

6. We will counter any views expressed with more facts or logical
discussions. No personal slur will be appreciated or allowed

7. It is not always easy to express the personal feelings in writing.
If you sense a subtle behavior indicating arrogance on the part of the
writer, please give the writer the benefit of doubt. No harm in asking
for clarification though.

8. Mentioning region/religion/caste or any other discriminator for the
purpose of 'put-down' will not be tolerated

9. Before posting every time, every member should review his/her
message by asking, "Is the message of value to the group, and the
society at large?"

10. Finally, every member has the option to either read/ignore any
message. If all of the discussions are perceived to be of no value to
any individual, of course he/she can choose to unsubscribe. Please
write a note asking for it, and it will done so

Lastly, I do appreciate all the members for their time and willingness
to read/write/discuss.

Regards,
Chandu
