Re: New trend of YS Govt.

I agree with Chandu regarding Dr. Manmohan Singh. He has great abilites
however he is constrained due to the coalition politics as well as due to
the inherent weaknesses of Congress party.

In his first instinct, he was shielded from politics by PVN and hence very
successful. In the second instinct there in no one to shield him. He himself
is not as chanikyan as PVN. You need to be a chanikyan to succeed in Indian
politics as long as Nehru-Gandhi family exists. The congress party (read
Nehru-Gandhi family) is too poweful in India. They are capable of cutting
deals with Iraq(Volker scandal) and other shady characters while they were
in opposition. That is their power.

Inspite of his best intentions, Dr Singh is definitely not capable of
breaking free of family and create his own space. As long as he cannot do,
he will not be able to do what he is capable of.

However, in my opinion here are few achievements of his government:

1) Excellent foreign policy decisions with US. The neclear deal was the best
India can get and the deal shows the maturity of a nation that yields power.
Here are the glimpses of an emerging power. credit also goes to previous BJP
government.

2) Economy was doing ok inspite of Laloos, Paswans and communist.

3) He is able to take India into many economic blocs for increasing trade
and commerce.

Domestically, his government is a biggest failure in comparision to any
government in last two and half decades.

I truly agree with Chandu
Dr. Singh is highly renowned and no one is pointing out based on his
party. Challenges Dr. Singh having are much different from what PVN had.
To add chandus list Natwar Sings resignation due to oil scam. Sonia is
Party commander in chief .etc.
This the kind of discussion expected from the group.

Jay,

Please read my ENTIRE message. (Given again below).
I did not politicise anything. Sri PVN and his team were from Congress
Party.
If I agree to what he could achieve, I am talking about his achievements as
PM.

I also said, I believe, that Dr. Manmohan Singh is equally strong.
He is clipped because:

1. Unlike in PVN's times, the current government is more dependent on
coalition allies.
2. Communist party's are against broad reforms, which was the game
plan in PVNs administration.

There may be other reasons why he can't proceed fully with what he believes
in.

Does this sound "politicized"?
Group, what do you think?

Chandu

Late Sri PVN was a one of the visionaries in recent years.
He had a good team and less covert influence on him.

While our current PM, Sri Manmohan Singh is equally strong
on many fronts, he is clipped. How unfortunate!

Chandu
