Respectful group members,
I am not quite sure if there is a good correlation between education and corruption. I believe corruption is originating from the well educated people. In India, most of the leadership positions in the Government department are being given to people who has excellent education. Example: IAS/IPS/IFS officers.
If the leaders live by higher standards and act as a role models to the team they are leading, corruption can be minimized and potentially can be eliminated. But, if the leader is corrupt, what kind if message he/she sending to his team? Lack of morales, expectations, and accountability at the leadership level is one of the reasons for the corruption.
Some of us (I am first in "some") are transpiring into materialistic people and our desires for materialistic objects is growing better than exponentially. If one has high materialistic desire, I think, the probability of being is corrupt is relatively high. Education did not teach us to be a materialistic human being and as far as I am concerned education taught me the life of greatest leaders born on the face of earth like, Mahatma Gandhi, Ramakrishna Paramahansa, Vivekananda.
Why I am not following the principles of these leaders? The answer I get is "you can only take the horse to the river, you cannot make it to drink". Similarly, all my teachers taught me good education and how I apply the eductaion is depend on me. If I am content and happy with what I have and be satisfied with just legal pay check, where is the room for corruption in me? Since I am not content, it leads to all kinds of non-sense and one of that non-sense if the corruption.
